Park Sketching

已更新:2023年4月22日

Before we went to the grassland park, we made a view finder out of cardboard - cardboard with three different sized squares hollowed out. This little frame helps my eyes to focus on a certain part of the larger, overall environment and allows me to gain a new perspective on things.

I didn't know what was in the park before I went there, and from my few visits, all I can remember is: the grass, and the people running. When I arrived at the park and looked through the viewfinder, I found many different landscapes: dry lawns can be interestingly veined; plain houses and tree branches can be hidden from each other in different perspectives, creating different primary and secondary relationships; clouds in the distance are glued to the roofs ------ These are all very interesting.

I started to think: are we seeing things in three dimensions or are they flat? In other words, do we see a cloud, a house, a tree or - a whole picture made up of clouds, houses and trees? During the activity I looked at the spatial connections between the scenes from different viewpoints and tried to translate them in a flat way, trying to shape new shapes.

After collaging, I unfolded the magazine and rescanned it to get the final manuscript.

The final product was black and white, and as my graphics were mainly dots and lines and lacked faces, the final effect was not strong enough. I think the main problem is also the colour of the background: it is also white, and the large area of white is not accented by a darker surface, so it appears to be floating and not strong enough.

I used this same approach to observe the connection between food waste and the

scene and tried some visual experiments. This is my experiment work.
